Samson Mnisi, also known as “Rain Maker”, was born in Lesotho in 1971 and passed away in 2023. A full-time artist based in Soweto, Mnisi studied Fine Art and Photography at the FUBA Academy. Upon completing his studies, he actively participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both within South Africa and internationally.
“My work serves as a visual language representing abstract thought. I incorporate patterns, lines, symbols, and vibrant colors to express a modern South African identity. I view myself as part of a timeless tradition that honors the divine essence of humanity—connecting the ancient practice of rock art to the present and future. Through my art, I explore its alchemical potential, believing it can evoke, and even heal, deep emotional states.”
