Carlo Gamberini was born in the early 1960’s and is a well known for running the Vignali foundry for many years, and is the forth generation of his family to do so. His work in casting at the foundry has enhanced his already broad knowledge of the figure in bronze casting. The Vignali foundry is one of the oldest foundry’s in South Africa and is still producing a number of works by many of the most influential South African artists. The Vignali foundry is a family business that is associated with the bronze casting of Sydney Kumalo, Ezrom Legae, Edouardo Villa, William Kentridge, and Deborah Bell.

Gamberini has created his own works and built a small collection of sculptures utilizing implements such as driftwood, industrial off-cuts and a variety of other ‘found objects’.
