Ben Tuge was born in Masvingo, Zimbabwe in 1969. His creative soul delighted the village folk when he started carving while tending his duties as a heardboy watching the cattle at the age of five.
Having been fortunate enough to show at both the Everard Read and National Art Galleries, Tuge’s work graces the homes and collections of art enthusiasts worldwide. His exceptional eye for detail and fervor for storytelling allow his works to ‘touch’ and ‘feel’ the spirit of exactly the moment in time he is portraying. Tuge’s love of Africa, his love of life, his love of his family, his respect for fellow human beings and the life and spirit of Africa are captured in every grain of wood he touches.
